The Salpicón Earrings were created in order to bring a little fun to your life, through the mixture of materials, textures and colors.
This design was made by Maria Claudia (production leader in Cali), together with Valentina, our expert in yarn tassel development.
First a ring is made with recycled wood, which is completely covered with the base thread; the tassels and finally the pompoms are glued onto it. This handmade piece takes approximately 5 hours to make and has a small ring on the top that allows it to be removable. From there you get the studs, which are made in our jewelry workshop, also by hand, with recycled brass mixed with silver / Gold-plated 24K.
For the jewelry pieces we first create the wax shape, carved by Karim (our head in Jewelry) completely by hand. When we are not satisfied with the result, we design the piece in a 3D program on the computer and it is printed by laser. Once it is approved, we take a mother mold from which multiple copies are made. The trees are made with wax, they are filled with metal (which in our case is recycled bronze mixed with silver. We buy this bronze to other jewelers and we do it with the purpose of reducing waste in the industry). Once the shape comes out of the oven, they are polished by hand by our team of goldsmiths and finally they are plated in gold. Only the jewelry process can take around 3 months when we are doing product development. When it comes to a product that we are reproducing, it may take around 3 weeks.
